GET inspired by the luxury of simplicity and authenticity

Discover the "other" Yucatán

Stop collecting photos of places you visit but don't connect with.

Forget about the “old ” concept of tourism and invite your senses to experience emotions.
Yucatán is a festival of sensations, where luxury is not only comfort, but also the satisfaction of experiencing something authentic and leaving a positive mark while respecting the environment and local culture.

Why
Yucatán?

State or Peninsula?

I’ve noticed that the Yucatán Peninsula is often confused with the State ( or Province ) under the same name.

Let’s be clear about it: “Yucatán Peninsula” refers to the landform, the land surface surrounded by sea, except for a narrower section where it connects to the mainland.

In this case, the Yucatán Peninsula includes the states of Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.

Now, the state of Yucatán is located on the western side of the Peninsula, and its capital city is my beautiful beloved Mérida.

So it’s clear that those famous tourist beaches and large resorts in the state of Quintana Roo (Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum) have nothing to do with the state of Yucatán.

Although the entire region is just a few hours’ drive from Mérida, there is a huge gap between both destinations. Basically, the entire Riviera Maya is a vacation destination and is 55 years old, while the state of Yucatán has almost 500 years of history and a rich ancient culture.

In fact, Yucatán was an independent nation from the United Mexican States during a few years in 19th century. Its history is interesting and complex; I’m sure I’ll try to tell you about it in the near future.

Why visit Yucatan?

Yucatán is Mexico, and at the same time, it is not. I know it sounds weird, but I assure you it is.

Its history, friendly people, ancient traditions, the heritage of the Mayan culture, its land of jungle and cenotes, and even its weather (sometimes extreme), combine in such a way that you won’t be indifferent about it.

Yucatán is sun and water, it is emerald and all the colors. It is music and flavors, it is someone who smiles shyly, it is mysticism and sacred land.

Yucatán is contrast, opportunity, transformation; it’s the chance to reconnect with Nature, but especially to reconnect with yourself.

If you’re going to visit this wonderful region of Mexico, this blog will be your non-touristic guide.
